Team Katch is thrilled to support Cookalong TV and its brand-new Celebrity Cookalong series, with our unique brand of PR and integrated communications services.
While lockdown has affected everyone, charities have particularly struggled to cope with the lack of fundraising opportunities. Enter Cookalong TV and its Celebrity Cookalong series.
It’s for Everyone
Celebrity Cookalong supports charities in need by enabling people to make £1 donations in aid of good causes. They are then entered into a raffle, after donating, for the chance to join a Celebrity Cookalong via video chat.
Whether you fancy yourself as a budding Instagram chef or someone who struggles to make beans on toast, Celebrity Cookalong is for everyone. It’s a simple and fun way to support the many charities that are undoubtedly desperately in need of cash.
Cooking Up a Storm for Charity
Charities such as Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Cancer Research UK, Refuge, Missing People, Encephalitis Society, Oracle Cancer Trust, and more are set to benefit from the support of Celebrity Cookalongs.
Celebrity Cookalong has a star-studded list of more than 30 celebrities already lined up. The celebrities will host their own fun, intimate cooking lessons via online video chat, in aid of their chosen charities. The line-up includes Alex Jones, Sir Ian Botham, Jodie Kidd, Ronni Ancona, Sally Phillips, Skye Mcalpine, Chemmy Alcott, Joe Marler, Chris Robshaw, Rebecca Adlington and many more.
The series will soon kick off with renowned TV presenter Alex Jones of The One Show. Alex will choose her favourite dish and then guide a competition winner and his/her friends through the cooking process. She will also answer questions from participants and online viewers. The Cookalong will simultaneously be streamed on YouTube.
The Virtual Cooking Table Awaits
The Celebrity Cookalong concept is simple: Much-needed money is raised through an online raffle. Participants can buy tickets for the chance to win a seat at the virtual cooking table with a celebrity host. Each entry costs just £1 and proceeds go to the celebrity host’s charity of choice. Moreover, participants can enter as many times as they want to increase their chances of winning.
One lucky winner will be picked for each Cookalong. He/she will then be able to choose a group of 5-8 friends to participate in the stay-at-home Cookalong experience. Anyone interested in entering the raffle for Alex Jones’ upcoming Cookalong on 2nd July can visit cookalong.tv for more details.
Supporting Great Causes
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for everyone, especially the most vulnerable members of society. With the launch of Cookalong TV and the Celebrity Cookalong series, we hope to provide some desperately needed financial support to the charities and volunteers who fundraise and help such worthy causes,” said Christopher Mair, Founder and CEO of Cookalong TV.
“By offering participants a fun and entertaining stay-at-home cooking experience, we aim to not only raise money for charities, but also use online video chat technology to brighten up people’s lockdown experience. This will hopefully, give them a positive experience to look forward to during such difficult times. We can’t wait to get started with Alex Jones’ Cookalong on 2nd July. It will be followed by a host of other celebrities in the coming weeks and months,” he added.
A Simple and Fun Way to Fundraise
Alex Hyde-Smith, Director of Fundraising, Alzheimer’s Society, commented, “We’re hugely grateful to the Celebrity Cookalong team for their imaginative idea and generosity in supporting charities. People with dementia are worst hit by coronavirus – thousands of them have died, from the virus, but also sadly from the wider impact it has had through social isolation and interruption of health and social care services.”
“Unfortunately, like other charities, our fundraising has suffered and we stand to lose up to half our income, just when the vulnerable people we support need us most. That’s why initiatives like this are so important, and we hope lots of people will be inspired to take part in a fun activity that has such a worthwhile aim,” he concluded.
